To 2026

Hello all!
I haven't had much to say since the release of A GHOST CHASES THE HORIZON. It was a stumble across the finish line rather than the triumphant, arms spread wide, breaking of the tape that I would have hoped. Still, we crossed the line, hit the goals set forth, but I laid on the track, exhausted, as the world continued to move without us.
Indeed, I have experienced true burnout. For the first time in my years as an author, I'm not having fun. I'm still working on QUANTUM CROSSING, but since October, I have only finished one chapter, and that was one I had already been working on for a month. Now, I open the file, stare at the pages, maybe write one sentence, and close the file. I haven't been able to do much more than that. The joy of creation just isn't there.
For my 2026 goals, I have none. This will truly be a rebuilding year. I may still find my motivation along the way. Sometimes, just writing about having no motivation sparks just that.
Worth noting, I did release THE LAST BREATH ON EARTH on January 1. It is a novelette I adapted from the unproduced script originally meant for the Frontier: Stories from Starfield audiodrama. It had been finished for a year, and I just wanted to get it off my slate of unpublished works. Success, though 16 days in, absolutely no one has read it (and it's FREE on Kindle Unlimited).
For the future, I hope to finish Quantum Crossing. Development (thinking) on Corvid Hollow and The Runestone Hymnal continues. Both are overcoming the narrative hurdles that have kept me from writing them down, so there is hope that both will manifest sooner or later.
Novels aside, I'm also working with my daughter to develop a project. We're not sure what it will become, but it looks like it could be either a cartoon or a video game concept. We originally called it THE ASTEROID PARADE, but as it takes a darker tone, my own working title has shifted to MERIDIAN WALTZ.
